One more ranking where North Dakotan's fair pretty well is volunteering.

North Dakota has the 15th best volunteer rate in the country according to the Corporation for National and Community Service. The state's volunteer rate was at 30.7 percent for the past year.

North Dakota had a total of 187,819 volunteers that served for 15.8 million hours in the past year. The top volunteer category in the state collected, prepared, distributed, and served food.

Neighboring Minnesota finished 2nd in the rankings for the nation, just behind top-ranked Utah in volunteer rate. Louisiana finished last in the country.
