North Dakota, good luck finding that girlfriend or boyfriend.  According to a survey from the all we do is surveys website Wallet Hub.

Dating in North Dakota (1=Best; 25=Avg.):

  • 44th – % of Single Adults
  • 50th –  Gender Balance of Singles
  • 35th – Online-Dating Opportunities
  • 39th – Mobile-Dating Opportunities
  • 50th – Restaurants per Capita
  • 27th – Movie Theaters per Capita
  • 19th – Crime Rate

It's fair to say barring some District of Columbia numbers, these 7 stats are a pretty good indicator of where we sit within 50 states. Of course what bugs me the most about this survey is that North Dakota is 47th out of 50 in the overall standings, yet our slightly less attractive sister South Dakota ranks 34th out of 50.  Easily explainable when you take into account all the rumors about South Dakota's behavior on the first date.  Over the sweater indeed!

So take another read if you didn't before, and ask yourself- is this explaining my singleness?

I don't understand the world of today's singles.  With apps like Tinder it seems like it's a pretty level playing field.  OK, I'll say it- when I was working the field, it was way harder to 1) Find a lady looking to have some fun 2) Try to pull her away from her overprotective friends.  It seems to me that apps like Tinder sorta remove those two obstacles...maybe there's just more cooties involved.

You can dive into the numbers if you like- I gave them a glance and poo-poo'd them, because if I can get a girlfriend than y'all gonna be OK. But 50th out of 50 in restaurants? I presume it's rural areas, because Bismarck/Mandan restaurants kick butt.

True that.

Good swinging singles!
