NIMBY is an acronym for Not In My Back Yard!  It's generally reserved for projects like prisons that need to be built, but nobody wants them in their backyard. Well, Wishek, this proposed project kind of seems like it's not only in your backyard but also out on your boulevard.

Many would argue whether the Badger Wind Project needs to be built at all.

Since February, there has been a flurry of activity regarding the proposed project.  You can get up to date with one simple click on the North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) website. Like many of these projects, there are deep divisions between neighbors.

Where exactly is the proposed Badger Wind Project located?

The project would be located in Logan and McIntosh Counties, adjacent to the western and northern sides of Wishek, N.D.

According to a notice from the PSC, the project would consist of 74 wind turbines at an all-around estimated cost of $390 million.  Much of that money I'm sure eventually finds its way to select property owners in the area.

The hearing provides an opportunity for members of the public to contribute to the PSC’s official record. Any comments from members of the public must be received at the hearing to be part of the record. People with concerns, questions or support/opposition for the project are encouraged to attend the hearing and present their information. Information received after the hearing will not be part of the official record and cannot be used as a basis for the Commission’s decision unless certain additional procedures are followed.
