Just last night, over in Eastern North Dakota, tragedy struck. At about 9:30 PM on Sunday evening, Grand Forks County deputies were called to a home in Northwood (West of Grand Forks). A 15-year-old boy was found, shot in a house, where he died at the scene. A woman is in custody for the murder.

As the teenager was a minor, his name was not released. However, an affidavit identifies the boy as J.B. Those initials do belong to a ninth-grader named Jonah Borth who was a student at Red River High School in Grand Forks. There was a letter issued, from the school's principal, to students and their families stating that he died in a "tragic accident."

Prosecuters have charged 32-year-old Samatha Wilson of Northwood for the fatal shooting. Authorities allege that Wilson fired at least one round from a 9-mm pistol, striking the teenage victim in his chest and throat areas.

As of now, there is no motive given for the shooting. Sheriff Andy Schneider told the Associated Press that the suspect and the victim were not related, and that the victim lived about 28 miles away in Grand Forks. Three other people were present at the time of the murder, one of the others was sleeping.

A handgun was recovered. Wilson is due in court Tuesday. She does not have an attorney who could speak for her.
