President Donald Trump got a warm welcome from the faithful last night in Fargo.

The Bismarck Tribune reports the president was at Sheels Arena to stump for Kevin Cramer, in the congressman's run for the Senate.

Mr. Trump gave the crowd what they wanted: rhetorical red meat on issues like immigration and taxes.

Despite being delayed by the vote on immigration in Washington, Representative Cramer did make a brief appearance at the event. [The vote on the immigration bill fell short.]

The approval was not quite unanimous: one man was led from the arena after trying to protest during the president’s speech.

While the president held court in the arena, the anti-trump forces gathered outside.

The Fargo Forum says there were up to 400 protesters taking part in a march that stretched three city blocks before reaching Urban Plains Park.

A handful of Trump supporters confronted the protesters, making for a few moments of tension, but the Forum says the scene remained peaceful overall.
