GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND Athletics) –  The Fighting Hawks had an impressive sweep over Colorado College this past weekend and the polls noticed.  North Dakota has leaped back to the top of both national college hockey polls. Former No. 1 Cornell fell to No. 2 after a road loss this past week, giving the No. 1 spot back to North Dakota, who also holds the top position in the Pairwise Rankings.  The Pairwise Rankings mimic the NCAA selection committee's playoff selections.

It was a near-unanimous jump to the No. 1 position in both polls, with the Fighting Hawks earning 49 of the 50 available first-place votes in the USCHO.com poll and 33 of the 34 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

Since North Dakota first ascended to No. 1 for the inaugural time this season on Dec. 16, this is the fifth time the green and white have been voted as the nation’s top team. UND has also not fallen outside the top-5 in either poll since Nov. 11.

UND has a bye this weekend and will return to action on February 14th & 15th at the Ralph against Denver.
