Tuesday, the University of North Dakota agreed to make a move from the Big Sky Conference for the Summit League in 2018, should the FCS football program be approved to join the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

The approval to join the Missouri Valley Football Conference could come Wednesday, with an official announcement made on Thursday.

UND would be a full-time member of the Big Sky Conference for next season, 2017-2018, then join the Summit League in all sports, aside from football. The Summit League is not a sponsor for football, therefore, the Fighting Hawks will remain in the Big Sky Conference for football in the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Their first season in the Missouri Valley Conference would be in 2020.
