West Nile Virus Has Arrived in North Dakota

The North Dakota Department of Health has confirmed in a news release the first case of West Nile Virus in a human in North Dakota this year.

The Department of Health says the individual who contracted the virus is a female in her 30s residing in Grand Forks County. She was not hospitalized.

The Department of Health recommends people use insect repellent to avoid mosquito bites while wearing protective clothing.

Additionally they advise that mosquitos are most likely to bite at dawn and at dusk.

The release also states that the virus was discovered in two crows and a cow.
