What Is The COVID-19 End Game?
What is the COVID-19 end game? According to a new article on INFORUM, to many American's have unrealistic expectations for a COVID-19 vaccine. I also believe we are headed for disappointment if we think a vaccine is going to make COVID-19 just go away. Many, expected it would just disappear when the warm weather hit this past Summer? That's what we pinned our hopes to anyway. We soon found out, that was not the case. We do know viruses spread easier in a dry, cool setting, compared to warm and humid conditions. However, the Summer certainly did not eradicate the disease.
According to the article, The White House and many Americans have gone all in on defeating the COVID-19 pandemic on a vaccine being developed at “warp speed.” But some scientific experts warn they’re all expecting too much, too soon.
We all know the seasonal flu vaccine is 40 to 60 percent effective at best. Still half of all Americans refuse to get one. Still over 20,000 plus people die annually from the flu. It took 25 years for a chicken pox vaccine to be developed. According to reports, the smallpox outbreak was discovered in 1796 and the last known natural case was in 1977.
According to numerous articles I've read on the subject, it's highly unlikely the disease is going away in a year or two. We better learn to live with it, or you know the alternative. We need to do our best to stay healthy, be responsible, slow the spread and not overrun our healthcare systems. However, I believe we need to live our lives, and not let this virus control us mentally.
So I ask again, "What is the COVID-19 end game?" What is the magic formula that is going to allow us to go back to our normal lives? Is it ZERO cases? The way I see it, the only way that will happen is if we just stop testing and stop reporting. Time to be realistic people.
