Where Should North Dakotans Retire?
Maybe you've spent your entire life in North Dakota. But as you get older and things begin to change, is North Dakota the best place to stay?
Recently, the website Caring.com released the top 10 states to 'grow old in.' North Dakota did not make the top 10 list. But if it is any consolation, it did not make the 10 worst states to grow old in list either.
The report did not release a full list of rankings so it is unclear where North Dakota ranks. However, a few of our neighbors ranked very well.
Our friends to the South in South Dakota took the No. 1 spot for best states to grow old in. Our neighbors to the East, Minnesota, earned the No. 1 spot on the list.
Rankings were based on quality healthcare, affordability, quality of life for residents 55 and older among other factors.
Here is the full top 10 list of the best states to grow old in:
- South Dakota
- Iowa
- Minnesota
- Alaska
- Oregon
- Colorado
- Hawaii
- South Carolina
- Nebraska
- Wisconsin
Surprisingly, only 2 of the top 10 states are "warm-weather states." It may be nice to retire somewhere warm but when it comes to quality healthcare, it seems the north is the place to be.
Head on over to Caring.com for the full breakdown.
