Here In Bismarck – When A “Child Murders Another Child”
Think about it, an accused murderer at the age of 19, an even younger 16-year-old teenage girl shot to death here in Bismarck
Of course shooting anyone, at any age in cold blood is horrific, and we had that happen here in Bismarck late last night. A 16-year-old girl, who still had the world to discover - college, graduation ceremony, vacation trips with her family, finding true love, and walking down the aisle on her way to getting married. GONE - taken away by bullets from a gun.
As of this moment, there is no apparent motive for the shooting...
...but we all know how details can trickle out as the days go by - the bottom line is that a 19-year-old teenager has been arrested. The Bismarck Police Department Facebook page had this to say today:
"One in Custody for Suspicion of Murder
A late-night shooting yesterday took the life of a 16-year-old girl in the 2900 block of Ohio St, and Bismarck Police have Corbin Lampert, a 19-year-old Bismarck man in custody for suspicion of Murder.
Around 11:45 pm last night, officers responded to the 2900 block of Ohio St for reports of shots fired in the area. There were numerous calls regarding the shots fired, with one stating that someone was shot. Officers entered an apartment in this area and located the 16-year-old deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Through the investigation of the incident, Bismarck Police Detectives identified Corbin Lampert as a suspect. Corbin was located shortly before 9:15 am in South Bismarck. Corbin was taken to Burleigh Morton Detention Center and held on the charge of Murder. Investigators continue to follow up on leads and interview possible witnesses"
No matter how you look at it, it's extremely sad and tragic
Time eventually does heal some wounds, my thoughts are with both the families of the victim and the accused - their pain may never mend. So young, still children really.
