In Mandan – A Work Of Art We Drive By Everyday
First, let me get some things out of the way
This article I am writing right now is not intended in an attempt to endorse a new business or to do a favor for the new owners. As a matter of fact, I have no clue who our new neighbors are. Yes I realize by the sign on the building it's a bank, awesome, the message I am trying to get across is just what kind of talented people we have in our community, and it's so easy to take it for granted.
I'm going to guess this structure has been in the works now for over a year and a half
I remember quite a while ago, at the beginning stages of this project ( on the strip here in Mandan ) we had a usual run of horrendous North Dakota wind that came whipping through, which caused havoc on the site, toppling a scaffold and some other damage. Think about what construction workers out in North Dakota have to face, it's not like in California where they can go to work 365 days a year. Imagine having a big portion of your job dictated by the weather, for instance, working around a major blizzard that crippled so many of us for a few days. Just hours ago on a beautiful Friday afternoon, I happened to glance off to my left and took a quick photo of something I literally "blinked my eyes" and missed the growth of this artwork that is almost finished,
I remember when ( but not the exact month ) over at Cenex across the street from us...
....I ran into some of the workers with their key lime work shirts on. I distinctly recall asking one of them what it's like, to months later drive down the road by one of their finished buildings and see the results of their hard work. "A huge sense of self-pride" this man replied, and to me, that said it all.
