Historically, Deadwood has always loved its ghost stories.  Halloween weekend come to make your own!  Friday and Saturday, October 28-29, make plans for a little adult Halloween fun during the 10th annual Deadweird celebration in Deadwood, South Dakota.

Just another reason to get outta town before the snow flies.

Deadwood's already haunted as hell, so why not throw in a band or two and make it into one of the biggest Halloween parties in the region!  Start working on your costume right now because Deadweird is paying out big time!

Don't worry there's room for more than one sexy-cowgirl costume. After all, Friday's Monster Ball is for ages 21+

Over TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS in cash and prizes during the costume contest.

Festivities start Friday with the 10th annual Monster Ball at Saloon 10.  Rock out with the band Cowardly Lions with a People's Choice Costume Contest. Dancing, drinking, and devilish debauchery.  At least one can hope.  Admission is free and the party runs  6-10 PM.  Giving you plenty of time to lose a snickers or two in the slot machines.

After waking up in the street, it's time for day number 2!

Could you maybe crawl back to the hotel- it's time for the kids to trick or treat!

Saturday afternoon from 3-5 PM it's a family-friendly Trunk or Treat event outdoors at the Days of '76 Event Complex. All are welcome! (except maybe sexy cowgirl).

So now all rested up from Friday night frivolities, it's time to do it again!

Now you don't have to dress up to join in on the fun but remember it makes it easier to conceal your identity.  What happens in Deadwood doesn't actually stay in Deadwood. A lot of people you know are probably in the crowd. North Dakota likes a trip down south every now and again.

Saturday Night it's the BIG COSTUME CONTEST & PARTY!

Register for the contest in Outlaw Square then get ready to compete from 6-9PM with judging at the Silverado/Franklin. There are a number of categories.  If you want to size up the competition- see last year's winners here. There will also be music and partying aplenty and as I mentioned...

Over $10,000 in Cash and prizes!

You'll need some of that after two nights of casino fun.

LOOK: How Halloween has changed in the past 100 years

Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
