A presumably relaxing vacation in Florida turned bad on Sunday (Sep. 20) when a 72-year-old man from Elgin, North Dakota died while snorkeling.

On their excursion near Looe Key Reef, the wife of George Hsu noticed from the boat that her husband was in distress when he called out for help. Along with other onboard vacationers, she assisted her husband back on to the boat.

CPR was performed on Hsu while waiting on the arrival of a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission boat, which took Hsu, his wife, and his brother and sister-in-law to Lower Keys Medical Center on Key West.

Hsu was pronounced dead at the hospital; an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause.
