Mandan Public Schools announced Thursday morning that a more traditional graduation is planned for the class of 2020.  Graduation will take place on the weekend of May 22nd to May 24th at Starion Sports Complex in Mandan.  The ceremony will be scheduled for the original date of Sunday, May 24th at 2pm.  In the event of inclement weather, graduation may be moved to either Friday, May 22nd at 6:30pm or Saturday, May 23rd at 11am.  A final decision will be made early in the week of May 18th.  The event will take place outdoors in the football field.

This of course was made possible because of yesterday's announcement on North Dakota Smart Restart High School Graduation Ceremony Guidance during the governor's press conference.

Mandan Public Schools is working on a Livestream feed for those who are unable to attend in-person.  In addition, MPS will be providing photographers to take pictures of graduates as they receive their diplomas.  The video and photos will be made available to families, free of charge, after the event.

Following the guidance set forth by the NDDPI accommodations will still be necessary to conduct a "North Dakota Smart Restart" event.  That means one step to limit crowd size will be only four guests per graduate will be allowed.  These accommodations will include limiting access, seat spacing and some changes to the ceremony to limit direct person-to-person contact.

Congratulations to the class of 2020 in Mandan and have a great graduation!  Be safe and celebrate the students accomplishments.
