Can't say it's a surprise.  But it's certainly disappointing.

The North Dakota State Fair has officially been cancelled.

Country fans that were excited about artists such as Eric Church, Sawyer Brown, Dan and Shay and others are no doubt disappointed. Rock Fans will not be able to enjoy the  Billy Idol sneer as he belts out his radio hits. I was especially looking forward to seeing rockers Collective Soul hit the stage at the Fair. They're a band I've long wanted so see but have never had the chance.

Renae Korslien, North Dakota State Fair General Manager put out this statement-

.  “It just reminds us all what makes this state and city so special and make us in the State Fair family even more determined to make next year’s Fair even greater, when it’s safer for us to be together again.”

If you have already purchased tickets for the 2020 North Dakota State Fair, they will be refunded directly back to your account if you paid with a credit card. You shouldn't even have to contact the State Fair- which is pretty convenient.

So gone are the elephant ears, mini donuts, racing pigs, amusement rides, and all the great fun that happens every year that our great state gathers.

Last year I had a fantastic time at a pair of concerts.  There was the one night triple threat of Greg Kihn, Rick Springfield, and Starship.  All artists showing they could still rock a crowd!  Then there was the surprisingly uplifting concert from alt-rockers Weezer. A concert I enjoyed so much that I right away bought tickets to see another triple threat-Weezer, Green Day and Fall Out Boy all playing together this summer in mid-August at Target Field in Minneapolis.  I can only hope that show goes on- or at least like in the case of the State Fair, it's going to be as easy to get my money back.

Fare thee well ND State Fair- we'll celebrate even harder in 2021.
