Well, I've sounded off on this project recently.

But honestly, only in jest.  Twenty years ago I moved to Mandan/Bismarck. It took a couple of years for me to figure out that there is only one city in Oliver County, North Dakota.  Here's your Wikipedia on that...

Oliver County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Dakota. As of the 2020 census, the population was 1,877.[1] Its county seat and only city is Center

So there's nobody in Oliver County to say no...because I presume the majority of Oliver County would get a check for Iowa putting their CO2 under your ground? Someone's gotta take the gas.  Why not underground where no one is?

Makes sense to me if it makes sense to you.

Here's what AP News is reporting today..

A North Dakota-based power cooperative and an Iowa company announced an agreement Thursday to co-develop carbon dioxide storage facilities.

Minnkota Power Cooperative, which operates out of Grand Forks, and Ames, Iowa-based Summit Carbon Solutions said the CO2 storage facilities would be located in western North Dakota, near the town of Center.

The numbers seem really huge...but what do I know?

The co-op’s Project Tundra aims to install carbon capture technologies at the Milton R. Young Station, a coal-fired power plant in Center.

The agreement provides Summit access to Minnkota’s 100-million-ton capacity CO2 storage site in Oliver County.

It also creates the framework to jointly develop additional CO2 storage resources nearby, which are estimated to have aggregate CO2 storage exceeding 200 million tons.

There's always been a profit/damage scale to most operations. But I do have a couple of other options that may be Oliver County should look into. Let's consider these...
