You kind of get the feeling sometimes that Bismarck/Mandan is growing up too quickly

Are we slowly catching up to all the moderate to big size cities around the country? Some people may fear that violence and more frequent reports of random shootings in the still of early morning are starting to resemble trouble that we really have never experienced before. Sadly this fear affects almost everyone. Late last year we had several reports of gunshots in neighborhoods around Bismarck.

Just a couple of hours ago the Bismarck Police were sent to the scene of a shooting

The reported area was northwest Bismarck. The time of day was this morning before 9:00 am. So the obvious concerns go out to the parents of children that go to school near there. This is when things that can get scary, the unknown haunts everyone. According to  bismarcktribune.com "Students at Centennial Elementary in the area were sheltering in place, which means they continue to receive instruction but don't leave the classroom, according to Bismarck Public Schools. The district notified parents"

What's the latest as far as suspects or a suspect arrested?

There is not a lot of information reported as of right now, except for the streets that are blocked off - Hawken Street and Stevens Street. No arrests have been made, and the suspect was reported still at large at 9:16 am.

Do we know if anyone was hurt, and was this a random shooting?

Yes, to me the word "Random" is disturbing when it comes to this matter. A 21-year old Bismarck man is dead. According to Lt. Luke Gardiner "...police believe the shooting was a targeted attack" bismarktribune.com added.

It's been a traumatic week already with the hit & run and now this shooting

I'm always grateful for our Bismarck and Manda Police Department
