The Woodhouse in Bismarck is Changing Ownership
After 48 years of ownership, Bill Wood has sold the old-fashioned restaurant known for its burgers, The Woodhouse.
Wood, 87, has been the owner since the restaurant opened in 1969. A former employee at the restaurant in the 1990s, Dan Vondrachek II will take over and according to reports from U.S. News & World Report, the new owner stated, "things will stay the same."
The restaurant also serves homemade pies, soups, ice cream malts and more.
Wood has said the restaurant's business comes from customers frequenting the establishment because of the fresh meat cut and ground on a daily basis.
Vondrachek, also an attorney, will wrap up his law practice in Williston before he moves his family to Bismarck. Wood is assisting with the transition of the new ownership and made the suggestion to Vondrachek that things should run just as they have, "I suggested to him that we don't change anything because if you've got something going, why mess with it?"
