I think at this point we would take a 40-degree day right?

After another punch-in-the-gut spring snowstorm yesterday, I think we are all longing for some spring warmth.

We officially received 2.3 inches of new snow in Bismarck which puts us over 96 inches of snowfall for this season.  The all-time record stands at 101.6 inches of total snowfall in one season going back to the winter of 96-97.  You would like we would be likely to break that considering all the snow we saw last April right?

I'm in the camp, we're this close to the record, we might as well break it.  However, I'm going to make a prediction.  If we don't break the all-time snowfall record in the next couple of weeks, I'm not so sure we will.  Why?  Because it looks a LOT warmer starting in mid-April.

According to the long-range forecast from AccuWeather, there looks to be a system about a week out from now (March 29th-March 31st).  We could break the record during this timeframe.

After that, April looks more like "April showers bring May flowers."

My fearless prediction of when we might see our first 50-degree day in Bismarck Mandan and parts of North Dakota?  July 4th.  Ha!  Just kidding.

The first 50-degree day will be somewhere on or near the April 12th time period.

Those temperatures look pretty inviting after the winter we've had.  Let's just hope the spring weather isn't like a light switch.  If it gets to warm too fast, we will no doubt have some flooding issues.  Not to mention some wet basements.
