Bismarck Police Department Adds A Power Shift to Meet Demand
If you think you're seeing more men in uniform around Bismarck, that's because you are!
The busiest times for Bismarck PD are between the hours from 3 to 8pm according the Bismarck Tribune. This power shift has been in the works for about 2 years. Now the shift is on the streets of Bismarck. The power shift over-laps the 12 hour shifts, both day and night shifts. This results in more officers on the streets protecting the city.
Not only does Bismarck have more two man patrol cars during these shifts, they also have plain clothes officers doing surveillance and working drugs on the streets and working other high crime areas. Plus, the additional patrols have also cut down on over-time for the city.
The payoff has already been noticed in drug arrests, casework, executing search warrants and foot patrol and more manpower on the streets during peak times.
The power shift started in August 28th.
