Grand Forks Student Set to Compete in National Spelling Bee
Rayne Korsmo, a student from the Grand Forks area is set to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee beginning on Wednesday, May 31.
Korsmo, was one of nearly 100 students competing in the North Dakota Spelling Bee back on March 20th.
According to the Scripps National Spelling Bee site, Korsmo is a home-schooled student in the 7th grade. He lives on a grain farm and his family has a long history with the Spelling Bee.
Rayne's older brother Ty competed in the National Spelling Bee back in 2012. And between Rayne, Ty, and their sister Siri, the Korsmo family has won the Grand Forks County Spelling Bee the last nine years.
The Bee officially gets under way beginning tomorrow with the oral portions of the Bee airing on ESPN, ESPN 2, and ESPN 3. (Prior to the on-stage portion of the Bee, students earn points taking a computer test).
