A helicopter has struck a building in midtown Manhattan, New York City.

The building is located on 7th Avenue between 51st and 52nd streets.

ABC News reported Monday afternoon that a helicopter has made a “hard landing” atop the roof of the building.

ABC confirmed at least one fatality – dead on arrival – as a result.

Police say a fire ensued. Governor Andrew Cuomo reported by mid-afternoon that the fire had been contained.

The governor also stressed that there was no evidence of terrorism.

Authorities speculate that the weather may have been a factor. Conditions were foggy, windy and wet in Manhattan at the time of the incident.

The story is developing. Check back periodically for updates.
