More than 2,000 people packed the parking lot of the historic depot in downtown Bismarck to see Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders Friday night, May 13th.

There was a line a handful of blocks down Main Street, as Sanders supporters waited to get into the rally.

The rally began with a speech from a Sanders supporter discussing healthcare. North Dakota gubernatorial candidate Marvin Nelson then delivered a short speech before welcoming the man of the hour.

Sanders took the stage to a chorus of cheers, before immediately making a crack about the weather in North Dakota. It was somewhere between 40 and 50 degrees when Sanders took the stage at around 8 p.m., yet the sun was still shining.

During the course of his nearly sixty minute speech, Sanders covered a wide-range of topics, including fracking, stating that we must 'ban it,' which was definitely an interesting statement to make in North Dakota. Other topics covered included universal health care, gay marriage, minimum wage, and Native Americans.
