In early February 2021, there was a cryptic report about a high school teacher, in West Fargo, who resigned from his position "because he was being investigated." Public comments on Facebook showed concern about the teacher's face being plastered across the internet, with no context as to why he was being investigated. There was even a story that reported how much his "glowing peer reviews" as an educator. But now, the public has been made aware of the exact reason why the teacher is being investigated.

The "minor" that Thompson was allegedly contacting actually happened to be an undercover agent, posing as an underage person.

According to Inforum, Ronald Thompson, teacher at West Fargo and Sheyenne High Schools, is being charged for attempting to solicit a minor online. The report says that West Fargo police were notified about Thompson's alleged pedophilic endeavor when they were tipped-off by investigators in another state. The "minor" that Thompson was allegedly contacting actually happened to be an undercover agent, posing as an underage person. Get the full story from Inforum here.

Inforum also reports that it is not believed that Thompson's alleged criminal actions were taking place on school property and the investigation is still on-going, so there may be more charges filed. And the report also says that the school will not be pursuing an investigation of Thompson, but they will cooperate with police.

I was concerned about the fact that the school is not investigating the situation. But, according to CAWS North Dakota, the school would only need to investigate if the alleged crimes if accusations and complaints were directly filed with the school.
