Wood, Tools, Paint, Create!
If you are looking for something different to do and are feeling creative, Board and Brush is for you. Board and Brush Bismarck is a DIY Wood Sign Workshop.
My sister-in-law and I saw some advertisements and decided to check them out. We looked at the various options and chose Cheese Boards. We registered and chose our board design.
After tying on our aprons we were given options of different stains for the board and tools to mark up the wood. Instructiors took us through the process step by step. It was fun to be banging our patterns and sanding down edges.
The studio is filled with a lot of different signs and nameplates made with different sizes of wood. Each of the examples has a different combination of stain and paint. So you can get an idea of what you want your creation to look like.
After marking and sanding our boards, we stained them. Some people chose a wash to go over the stain to add a more weathered look. Then the stressful moment, applying the stencil and removing the backing. Some pieces were challenging to keep in their spots, but I got it done.
With our chosen paint color, we dabbed it onto the stencil to get our design.
After letting them dry for a bit, we applied oil to seal them. And we had our finished project.
