The small amount of rain we got this week was nowhere near enough to make so much as a dent in the drought situation.

The Bismarck Tribune reports the conditions are worsening, and a number of local governments (including the cities of Mandan and Lincoln) are banning fireworks for the Independence Day celebration.

U.S. Drought Monitor now says, 27 percent of the state is in "severe" drought, up from 13.5 percent last week. The drought level in Burleigh County has been raised to "severe," from "moderate" last week.
